AZ Training Complex Renovation Takes Shape

ZAANSTAD - The renovation of AZ's AFAS Training Complex is taking shape. The work is creating new facilities for recovery, prevention, and relaxation for players and staff. According to project manager Piet Hopman, from Hopman Vastgoed Beheer, who is overseeing the project on behalf of AZ, the layout of the new section is becoming increasingly visible. “The walls are being put up during this period and the swimming pool has now been installed. This means you can get a better idea of what the entire project will look like.”

Recovery and wellbeing
An important part of the renovation is the expansion of the recovery facilities. These include a rehabilitation pool with a treadmill, a hot tub, and several saunas, including an infusion- and steam sauna. Additional cold water pools and cold water showers will also be installed. Furthermore, relaxation rooms will be created where players can recover between training sessions. Finally, the first team will also get a renovated changing room.

Collaboration with Intal
During the renovation, AZ is once again working with Intal, a partner of the club, which is responsible for the building's aluminium window frames. As with previous construction projects at the training complex, Intal is supplying window frames that match the complex's existing architecture. The new window frames are technically more advanced, but their look and feel blend almost seamlessly with the current building. This ensures the training complex retains a recognisable appearance, while at the same time being equipped with modern materials and a sustainable finish.

Complex upgrade
In addition to the new construction, parts of the existing complex are also being addressed, including the entrance and the Family Home. This will further upgrade the entire training complex. Although the work is slightly behind the original schedule, most of the renovation is expected to be completed before the start of the new 26-27 season.
